The aim of PhD program in Mathematics is to form high level researchers in the fields of Pure and Applied Mathematics.
The diploma should be awarded to students that:
a) Show a broad understanding of the chosen scientific domain, with an extensive knowledge of the underlying research methods and techniques.
b) Are able to judge, analyze and synthesize new and complex scientific ideas.
c) Are able to communicate to their peers, to the scientific community in general and to the rest of the society ideas and knowledge from their area of expertise.
d) Are able to promote a knowledge-based society in either an industry or an academic environment.
e) Are able to produce an original and significant scientific research project in accordance with the highest academic standards worthy of being published in reference peer reviewed international scientific journals.
